USS Maloy (DE-791), a Buckley-class destroyer escort, was commissioned in December 1943 and served throughout World War II with the Atlantic Fleet, including gunfire-support operations during the D-Day invasion of Normandy in June 1944. Following the war, she participated in the Operational Development Force from 1946 to 1965, conducting extensive testing and evaluation of experimental sonar and underwater sound equipment while serving as a training vessel for the Fleet Sonar School. Decommissioned in May 1965, she was sold for scrap in March 1966.
